Rifles: Should they be London best or mass-produced? Mike Yardley guides us through the very best rifles on offer
Tikka T3
Rugged, accurate and exceptional value - the Tikka is the professional's choice and favoured by many gamekeepers and working stalkers. I have an old Model 65 in .300 Win Mag which has given me years of good service (and had a new lease of life since being retubed with a Border barrel). In nearly all their forms, Tikkas are a first-class working tool. If your budget is limited, think no further than a .223 for foxing, or a .243, 6.5 x 55 or .308 for deer (my call would be the T3 Lite Stainless). They have simple and strong actions which feel slick and have a 70-degree bolt throw, and come factory-threaded for a moderator. Call GMK on 01489 579999.
