Royal Veterinary College to commemorate the Household Cavalry's hero horse, Sefton, with a bronze statue 30 years after the IRA bombing

Thirty years ago an IRA bomb detonated as the Queen's Life Guard passed Hyde Park. As the memorial reminds us, four members of the Blues and Royals lost their lives. Twelve soldiers and six civilians were injured. Seven horses died.

In the face of such horror Sefton became a hero for surviving his injuries and the Royal Veterinary College has commissioned Camila le May to make a bronze of the famous cavalry horse, set be unveiled early next year. An Irish draught horse called Ed acted as model and he can be seen here inspecting the work.
