What has become a universally recognisable style of sculpture started when Guy Taplin worked in Regents Park in the 70’s and was able to immerse himself in the wildfowl there. His work’s apparently simple forms belie a mastery of his subject, and is all the more appealing for having been ‘liberated’ from flotsam and jetsam the artist collects on the shore outside his Essex studio and around the word.

Messum’s are hosting an extensive exhibition of his work in thier Cork Street Gallery until February 21st and will continue to carry some of his pieces for the rest of the year in celebration of the artist’s 70th birthday.
