Conveniently close to town, Bisley Shooting Ground is a great place to brush up your skills

Bisley Shooting Ground is a great ground to practice on. It caters for both game-shots and sporting-clay shooters, so there is something for everyone.

As Bisley Shooting Ground says, “Just 30 miles from central London, is located within 3,000 acres of stunning Surrey heath and woodland and described by many as the country’s top shooting school with industry-leading coaching.

“Founded in 1895, Bisley is renowned for its expert tuition and facilities. The grounds are continually being developed to ensure an unbeatable service and variety of targets. For the beginner looking for an introduction to the sport or a seasoned shot, Bisley Shooting Ground is ideally situated and has been called the most beautiful shooting ground in the country. The quintessentially English Victorian clubhouse was originally built in 1865 on Wimbledon Common as the headquarters for advisors to the government on the future of shooting. Taken down and moved to Bisley in 1895, the clubhouse has remained there ever since and offers an elegant and comfortable place to relax and dine.”

BISLEY SHOOTING GROUND

Part of the family-owned Bisley Shooting Group, Bisley Shooting Ground, which lies just west of London in Surrey, is the UK’s largest sporting clay ground. Its sister club, Bisley at Braidwood (Scottish Borders) is Scotland’s largest sporting clay ground. Under the leadership of Shooting Manager, John Heagren, Bisley instructors all use the same methods and techniques to bespoke tuition to individual clients. Gunfitting is offered and a set of personal measurements issued, with a copy kept on file for future reference. The ground not only caters for game-shots but sporting-clay shooters as well. Unusually, it is open seven days a week for lessons, groups or practice sessions with an instructor.  Individual adult lessons cost from £81 per hour for Members (£98 for Members with Heagren); juniors (18 and under) £68 for Members (£85 for Members with John Heagren), plus clays and cartridges.

Bisley also offers the UK’s most versatile automated Pay & Play facility for experienced shooters who would like to shoot unaccompanied, with no requirement to book in, and shoot an unlimited amount of clays.  The Pay & Play is open Tuesday-Sunday, please see the website for any closed dates.
